my role of health and saftey on snipez - Emmanuel

My role as part of the Snipez film team is health and safety is to look at the different locations we will be filming in and checking that they are safe environments to film in. I will also need to take into consideration wires; cables and anything that requires an extension this will include creating what is known as recce which means I will have to plan in advance and work out what equipment is best to film with and where to film scenes. This will also include enquiring around the set to check for road works or anything that may cause disturbance while filming. I still don’t know very much about the location and I am yet to find out how the place actually looks. Although I will consider finding a contact number of the place to get more information.

Role as a producer (Leydimila Alves)

The Producer shepherds the film from pre-production to its final piece. Starting before the film-making process. The Producer's is role to turn story ideas into profitable cinematic entertainment and to persuade others to share in his or her commercial and creative vision.

As a producer I'll be in resposibility of...
putting production schedule together.

Keeping in mind what is the central vision and goal of the movie.

therefore ultimately accountable for the success of the finished film.

in constant communication and consultation with the Director and other key creative personnel, on and off set.

making sure everyone is following their roles and completing their tasks.

make sure is aware of what they are doing and where to go and when.

Make sure I can contact any actor/crew-member.

Be aware of any changes made

Jordan the Camera Man

I have been given the role of the Camera Man. This is a very important job as I am in control of the filming of the whole film. I was put in charge of the shot list for the film, so i had to visualise how i wanted each scene to look and describe how each shot would be carried out. Since we are using 7D cameras which we have never used before, last week I took some time out to research the differences between it and our old cameras. I found out the cameras have a 1080 resoloution and can preform in camera editing which might be helpful. I also have to build a strong relationship with the person in charge of the lighting as his work and how he visualises the shot will majorly affect my work.

kai sappleton, Assistand director

My job role is assistant director my duties are to control the cast and to assist the camera man on the cinematography of the film also to ensure the project is done to a professional standard in both sound and visual efforts, I am also in charge of the lighting and I have chosen the suitable lights that I would need to produce the best quality in the film,

I strongly agree that I am perfect for these job roles because I am passionate in getting 100pecent in my projects and I am very excited to work with the equipment.

Camera man Kieran Dillon

My job role is being the camera man. The job role entitles me to shoot the production of snipes while we are in surrey. The reason I put myself forward to be the camera man is that I believe that I am a suitable candidate. As I get along well with my peers and I believe I am confident young man.

Also I am very approachable and will do what needs to be done for my team. I have already helped in the preview of snipes when I filmed some shots for the production where snipes is arguing with his ex girlfriend also when he is on the phone to the Chinese man.

So i have had first hand experience already of what it is like to film and shoot snipes. I plan to stay after college on thursday to learn more about the canon 7D camera and this way I will gain more first hand experience.

Pre Production SWINDLE- Light Technician

Tuesday 28th February 2012

My Role ?
My role is the Lights Technician. This involves me using my imagination and visualling the scene and helping it fufil its fullest potential. As the gaffer I have to work well with well with the cameraman so that we get each shot to perfection.

How I have applied my Role?
I have applied my role by practicing using all the different types of lights that the college supply and viewing which lights would suit the scenes from our script.

Whats my interest in Lighting?
My interest in lighting would be that it creates different effects whilst filming i can accomplish by using a piece jel (different coloured plastic sheets). I've practiced and reasearched the most about the varieties of lights that we were recommended and was chosen for the job role, and will do my very best to acheive my goal.

Jessy Namiki

Director of Snipes (Yanic)

im the director of snipes also the writer of the script. I think I would suit this role because I have a vision on what I want the film to look like as I scripted the film. Also I have good communication skills which will help me communicate with the actors, camera person, sound engineer ect. There are many more skills needed which I'm willing to expand my knowledge on. A real director works closely with the cast and crew to shape the film. In either case, this process is essential as it tells the director as well as other key members of the crew how the actors are going to play the scene, which enables them to make any necessary adjustments. Director is the main eye of a film. He says how he wants it to look with the visual and sound aspects of it when being filmed.

Since i have been asigned this role, i have worked with my camera man to get the screen shots perfect also had conversations with the group seeing if they are okay with the script as it is. the producer has made a production schedule for Surry and has shown the group for us to agree with.

Assitant Producer

My job role is an Assistnt Producer. A Producer controls and supervises all aspects of a film production/making of a film.
They work closely with everyone on the set making sure things are going right.

They play a big role as they over-see every part of the film, making sure everyone knows what they are doing, where they are supposed to be and when and a also making sure there are no problems or difficulties that might occur.

The last few weeks i have made sure that everyone is doing their research for their current job role and I am creating a folder off all our pre-production paperwork.

Between now to the shoot i have to make sure pre-prodcution is done and we are ready, making sure no problems occur when shooting.

-Everyone should have a copy of the script and there job role research at all times when at Surrey.
-Everyone should know the script

Pre Production SWINDLE: Sound Neal Chauhan

In this project i am in charge of the sound. My job role consists of recording all sound on set or on location. I will also be recording the atmosphere, 'wild tracks' on set or on location to assist the post production sound depart during the editing process. To ensure that the dialogue has been recorded during film shoots is suitable clear. Most film shoots are challenging for sound department as there are often unwanted noises to deal with, or the desired camera shots hamper the placing of the mircrophones.

Pre Production SNIPES Designer; Hannah

My job role is to be the Designer of the project in our group. I have planned what each character needs to wear for each scene and also what props we will need to use. The reason why I had done this is so we as a group are prepared, before we arrive in Surrey, for what people need to wear and what people need to bring for scenes. If we arrived in Surrey without planning what we need then we wouldn't have everything we need for the production which means we would be unable to film to the best of our ability.
When we arrive in Surrey and begin filming I need to tell each person what they need to wear and what prop they need to have with them so they look like the character created.

Tuesday 28th february

What did we do today?

Today as a group we discused sleeping and accommodation arrangements for our production teams,we also drew up a list of groceries that will be needed for the whole production team over the period we are staying on the location,we took into account the fact we have to accomidate for meat eaters and also we will need to have enough food and drink to accomidate for everyone for 3 meals a day.

Food Costs

Tuesday 28th Feb. 2012

During David's and Rob's lesson, both producers, Me and Amy were gathering the shopping list for our stay in the hostel, we asked our class colleagues what they preffer to eat during their stay in Surrey.
Me and Amy decided to be responsible for the breakfast so that we can wake everyone up on time.
We gave out roles and responsibilities to who will be cooking each night and asking them what ingredients they'll need.
We've research prices in the ASDA phone app, so that we can get an idea of how much people will have to pay for food during their stay.
Its more beneficial to bulk buy so that we can all spend less together.
General ingredients such as milk and pasta were included into the list, but others such as sweets or cookies we decided it would be better if everyone brought in their own separately as they preffer.
We've created a menu including options for vegetarians to sute all tastes and preferences.
And finally, a cleaning schedule was organised because cleaning services will not be included with the hostel. Each night a group of students will wash up the dishes and clean the hostel.

Me as the Director SWINDLE

The Director is the driving creative force in a film's production, and acts as the crucial link between the production, technical and creative teams. Directors are responsible for creatively translating the film's written script into actual images and sounds on the screen - he or she must visualise and define the style and structure of the film, then act as both a storyteller and team leader to bring this vision to reality. Directors' main duties include casting, script editing, shot composition, shot selection and editing. While the practical aspects of filmmaking, such as finance and marketing, are left to the Producer, Directors must also always be aware of the constraints of the film's budget and schedule. In some cases, Directors assume multiple roles such as Director/Producer or Director/Writer. Being a Director requires great creative vision, dedication and commitment. Directors are ultimately responsible for a film's artistic and commercial success or failure.
