What a final day
What a final day. Up at 7 after about 3 hours sleep. Devious finished off in the morning. Print kept tweeting and news gathering. Got a great story about a children's behavioural management program running at the hostel. It was a beautiful day eventually Bulletproof Trinity wrapped and finally we all went off to Newquay for a well earned paddle in some very warm seawater.
We have closed down the production office which is now an empty shell after being alive for the last week with the buzz of of 30 creatives. Not much left to do...

Up shooting until 4.30am: WHAT A DRAG!
Yesterday was such a drag. We started filming at around 17.30 and did not finish until 4.30am, it was so tiring but we got A LOT done on that day. I think that the scenes that was shot went really well. We had loads of fun while shooting and worked together. In some scenes it resulted to 4 people (Sachin, Shanique, Rakiem and I)in the production team taking over and sometimes 3 people (Rakiem, Shanique and I) taking over due to the rest of the production team being on set for the other teams film. Dave also helped us and made it easier for us. Many thanks for that moster man. Lol. I think that staying up late really benefited our production team and it made me feel good because it shows that we was working hard and getting things done because we knew we had a tight schedule. Now I feel really positive about things and feel their will be a good outcome. =) RiRi xx
Nurture Project
Today a few children came down to visit the hostel. At first we weren't too sure what they were doing down here at the hostel. We then found out that they were children with behavourial management problems, who found it difficult to concentrate, learn and understand the fundamental rules of schooling.
As the children were here with a couple of their teachers Sadie and Laura we thought this would be the perfect opportunity for Miranda and I to interview them for our video production. We asked them a few questions regarding what the whole project was about.
Seeing as these children were disruptive during lessons, there was a scheme set up called the "Nurture project" designed to help children who are in key stage 2 and key stage 3 get better communication skills and learn how to interact well with other children.
Only a small number of children, roughly ten, are allowed to be taken out of school to go to on the project. As there are only a small group of them, they get more attention to themselves than they would in a class full of thirty five children.
The children that come to this project learn so many new skills that will then help them when they settle back into school and they know that they can rely on the project.
Laura who runs the project said it would be disasterous if the project was ceased due to lack of funds and could also lead to many exclusions.

Trip to Golant Hamlet
Miranda and holly’s trip to golant
View more presentations from callyrose92.
Holly and I decided to visit the little hamlet of Golant situated on the Fowey river. The hamlet was beautiful and the sunny day just added to it. We managed to visit the local parish church even though it was shut. We looked around the grounds and managed to capture some good shots.
We walked into the town a little more and found a railway line that was used to transport clay - the steam train that occupies this line is not in operation every year.
As the town is overlooking the river Fowey the tide can sometimes become high and flood the surrounding roads. This can become extremely dangerous in winter when bad weather strikes.
On the way back to the Youth Hostel we stopped into the only restaurant there was in the hamlet and asked a local resident if he could give us some more information about the town. He was happy to help me and i was pleased that i was able to get an interview. MC & HN
Good Morning
It is a lovely bright sunny morning in Golant, Fowey. Everyone is in a very good mood and we are all ready to work work work until midday - which is when we are going to NEWQUAY. The T.V. & Film students was up last night till 4.30 in the morning filming, even after their late night they were still able to get up for their breakfast call at 8am.
There is a lot of work being done today including me and Miranda posting up our presentation of our trip to the little hamlet yesterday. As well as the children from the local school coming down to the hostel to work on the garden.
Very hectic here - everyone is very excited and energised. All hands on deck to get the work done today. HN

Up all night
Its 4:14am friday morning, we just finished our shots for the day. i have been up from 7.30am in the morning as well as everyone else in my group and now we just have to get up 7.30 again to set up, so everyone has to be up and on point. i feel that the way the new schedule was, was a good way that made us get a lot more scenes done. its been a hard day and with a lot of our group acting for the other group i feel the rest of the group that was still involved kept the quality and focus even with much less of the production crew. so i had to do multiple rolls with the help of everyone. Overall the experience is good and i feel from the past few days my production skills has improved. Understanding of continuity, framing, lighting up the shot and the sound.

Aaaanndddd.... ACTION!
It is currently 12:31 am and the 'Bullet Proof Trinity' crew are working their way through the night. We hope to complete scene 10 and try to edit some footage on Final Cut Pro. I have found that switching roles is very hard and time consuming, but as they say 'the show must go on' and it certainly shall.
I'm heading back to the set now, catch you later.

Night shoot 3
'Devious' and 'Bullet Proof Trinity' are now on collision course. Both films have run into the same night shoot and are fighting for locations. I'm getting confused about which character is which in each film, and one member of staff has already been brutally murdered in a vicious knife attack.
However, it seems like everyone is 100% committed to getting finished. It is now 25 minutes past midnight and the shots are being relentlessly crossed off the list. It is very impressive.
Paul, the manager of the hostel, who has bent over backwards to support us, not just this year but every year we have been here (5th year now), says he looks forward to our visits and is bowled over by how professional it all seems. Various other youth hostelers staying here have apparently commented to him about how exciting it seems. And all in all I don't think any of us teachers could have asked for a nicer bunch of young uns to spend a residential week with.
Top marks to everyone today. Lets hope the last day goes as well and we get to spend a bit of RnR time down in Newquay.

A Day at Bodmin Jail.
Today myself, Reneece, Reiss and Kezia E from team J20 and Kezia B,Anderson and Rahul from team Smirnoff went to Bodmin's famous jail. Some of us were very apprehensive about visiting the jail, but were still very interested in finding out the history of it.
Bodmin Jail was built in 1779 on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. The Jail was designed by Sir John Call and built by the prisoners of war.
On 20th July 1909, Bodmin jail saw the last execution in Bodmin and in Cornwall. Unfortunately that was William Hampton, who was born on 23rd May 1885 in the district of Penwith Cornwall. He was executed for the murder of his late girlfriend Emily Barnes Trevarthen Tredrea.
The jail was operational for 150 years and witnessed over 50 hangings until it finally closed in 1927. Since then there has been no other jail in the county of Cornwall.
Much of the jail remains in ruins, but parts have been refurbished and now forms a tourist attraction with exhibitions.

productive day
Today a few members from both print teams, Radio and TV Production went into Bodmin Gaol prison, the countryside, Menabilly beach, the TV production team got some great shots of a lot of the landscapes in each area we visited whilst the radio production team, were able to get an interview at the prison as well as a number of photos, we each feel that the good weather contributed to our work making the atmosphere look amazing as well as well as motivting us to work harder and for longer. Visit to a hamlet
Miranda and I went to visit a hamlet around A 40 minute walk away from the youth hostel. Our first stop was a church which was situated on top of a steep hill overlooking Fowey river. We had a long look around and found an old well to photograph as well as the church itself which had beautiful architecture. We then took a walk down the steep hill to the little hamlet. The hamlet was right on top of the river of Fowey which can sometimes have a high tide which will flood the roads.
There was also a train line, we asked a local resident whether this train line was used for commuters and we was told that The steam train that runs on the line carrys clay and does not run every year.
The town was very beautiful with boats littering the waters edge. A very good and productive day for both me and Miranda as I was able to get quite a few scenic pictures and Miranda got an interview off a local resident.
Yet again another productive day. Now off to editing and making a presentation of my pictures. I will post the presentation up soon. HN

Hard at work
Today has been a long hard working day for me and my group members. We have taken more footage of the Golant Youth Hostel as we are making a mini advert for them. The purpose of the advert is to promote the hostel, so they get reservations from the locals and tourist. It is going well but, is very tiring, must be done! The other part of our group have travelled to Bodmin to get footage of Fudge and ice-cream; what Cornwall is best known for.
Anyway time to get back to editing again hope you all enjoy it when it is uploaded online!

Night Time Shoot Out
Well continuing from yesterday the night went on for real long. We was up filming till 1am. It went from Sunny to a real dull cold night. It felt like I was actually in the film. While filming the night scenes and seeing the set up and everything I thought it was really cool because everyone was on set having their input and everyone was getting on with their work. We did end up falling behind schedule due to people not following the production schedule but it was a good night. As time went on we carried on with our next scenes, the last scene we did was the the funniest scene of all of them all. For the last actual shot Sachin went into a mini forest and up trees to get a long shot of our actors. It was so funny because Sachin saw the tree next to him moving and he was freaking out. Lol. I found that shot really creative. Even though everyone was tired and wanted to go to sleep we cracked on with what we had to do and finished what we could. I felt like it was a good night and a lot of hard work was put into the scenes even though the schedule was not followed and we have now fallen behind. If we keep to a positive attitude and work as a team everything could run smoothly. =) See ya. RiRi xx

The second night of shooting for Devious has finished. Everything that could of gone wrong did go wrong. However, thanks to the very hard efforts of each and every one of our production crew, we managed to pull through the night relatively unscathed. I understand it was hard for some of them as they were growing increasingly tired and irritant as the night went on, but they persevered and in the end, the results were satisfactory. They all have my thanks.

Finished!
We are finally finished for the day... the best bit of tonights shooting was when Sachin went into hysteria as the tree next to him moved slightly on its own...

Late Night Filming
Hey Amina here, It is currently 12:01 am. I have just been dismissed from the set of 'Devious', although it is freezing outside and i literally can no longer feel my toes- I must say that the filming is coming along smoothly and the 'Devious' crew will be on track in no time.
The scenes we have shot for my own group, 'Bullet Proof Trinity', today have slight glitches to it which i hope that we can re-shoot tomorrow in order to have an appropriate clip to edit in post production.
The main worries we face are the sound and stability of the camera shots, they can be easily mended but must be carefully looked at all times during filming.
Well, thats it from me.
Peace out.

News Room
It is 10.48pm and Rianne is still hard at work in the newsroom. She has just finished editing a VT with Saira about the Eden Project and the attractions of Polperro.
The shift from documentary film making from the last few years to this years news gathering, the construction of sound and video news packages and the keeping of a regular blog and Twitter news update has worked really well. Our news gatherers and editors have been kept frantically busy documenting the two film productions on site at Golant and going out to gather stories for the packages to be uploaded daily.
So far they have all done brilliantly, learned new skills and simply got on with the job, all factors that point to the possibility of successful futures working in multimedia environments.

Night Shoot 2
A second night of shooting is underway. For anyone who thinks Media Studies is a waste of time they should consider the complexity of what a group of 18 year olds are doing coordinating directing, acting, complex camera crane movements, lighting, sound, stunts and much more in the dark with little to no assistance. They will be working to 1am for the second night in a row. That is commitment. Employers out there take note. Media students can...

Tuesday's trip to the Polkerris beach!
After a hard day's work in the town centre with interviewing locals and recording footage for our videos. We headed down to the Polkerris beach here in Cornwall, to explore and observe the scenery! It was very windy and the grey clouds where settling in so we couldn't necessarily go for a swim. However, the trip was a lot of fun we were able to take a few shots on the beach. Stay posted for more pics! Kezia Eniang

Driving
Another long driving stint around the narrow country lanes of Cornwall. On the map Eden looked close. But the original paradise was always going to be hard to get to and it turns out that Eden has strict rules and we never got a chance to film in any depth. Polperro then looked really close as well. About 15cm on the map. However 15cm of an AA atlas map in Cornwall is approximately three weeks journey time on single track roads where every corner is blind. Not complaining though because the weather was great and the countryside looked green. Polperro was really beautiful and I got a chance to sit on a rock looking at the litle fishing boats bobbing up and down against stone cottages on the harbour wall, whilst enjoying homemade icecream and fudge. End commercial...
Cornish Pasty
On our trip put today Richard probably had about three pastys, he absolutely loves them. If only he could get them from London hey! The girls had one each worrying about their figures! Speaking of figures a lady we saw today mentioned we take pictures of the cakes that were on show instead of eating no wonder our figures are good. As you could imagine none of the girls agreed with this figure business lol. Komal P
Day out with Richard
Today Richard took the girls out to research about Cornwall life in town, we met a photographer who has a shop near the Harbour beach. he told us that was born in Northwick Park in Harrow, he then decided to move down Cornwall to open his shop and not forgetting the great views. He owns two shops one for his photography; that he takes himself when he travels around the world which he has been doing for the last 5years. The other is a ice-cream shop which is running well he says!
We also went to the Eden Project, which was really enlightening; I had a great time walking around and enjoying the view of the coast. KomalP

A Ferry good ride
We just got of the ferry at Bodinick and had a fairly good time although the journey was only half a second long! Now back to editing our video that we shot in Polperro near the beautiful sea. RD
productive day
Overall quite productive day for the print media, radio team. Rahul and I have managed to write a radio script, interview questions and add voxpops to our radio show, with help from Reiss from the TV news team. The sunny weather helped motivate us to get more work done throughout the today, also the TV and film team seem to be working hard on their movie called Bulletproof Trinity, hopefully all goes well for them as they progress. Sunny Wednesday Afternoon
Today is a nice sunny day in Cornwall apparently 19 degrees. This morning we had the loudest wake up call because someone set off the fire drill. So not cool .-_- thumbs down to that one. After all of that chaos the majority of us went back to sleep. Lool. Then we was woken up again by monster man aka Dave. Haha. We got a little bit of a telling off because there was a couple of problems to do with our work and things occurred in the previous night. Furthermore, in our meeting the production manager for each group spoke about what we will be doing today. Moving on from that Shanique and I got down to some serious business. We realised that some changes had to be made to the schedule. We organised what scenes need to be shot today, sorted locations for where the scenes should be shot, how long it should take so that our production is back on schedule, set times of when we should start shooting and when we should finish filming each scene. Me and shanique decided to rearrange scenes to benefit both groups so we can work around eachother. I think that we was problem solving, making good suggestions and had our thinking caps on. =D =D At about 2pm Shanique and I once again lol had a nice chat with Dave, Gerard and Rob outside on the benches in the blaring hot sun about the changes we made this morning, they helped us a lot and gave us a good input to what we should do and how we should go around certain things. It was really useful because Shanique who is our production manager found it easier to schedule the scenes and put them in order. Now looking at the new layout of the scenes, it makes a lot of sense and we are going to find it much easier to film. Well it's going to be a very busy day and we will be filming shortly so im leaving. I'll update ya'll peepz tomoz. Peace xx fr RiRi (Rianne Black-Foster) Sent from my iPad
